Live recordings of Frank Black (Part 1)
Frank Black is a legend in his own right, not just for the Pixies. Adored by many, respected by the biggest (Radioheads Thom Yorke, Kurt Cobain), influential, some might say the most influential music innovator of the last 20 years or so. Of course we were thrilled when we we're invited for coffee with mr. Black.
Frank Black is not the easiest person to interview. He's intelligent, doesn't really need any promotion, has been out there for ages, heard every question at least a hundred times and talked to probably every journalist. The interview went down really well though, and our reporters Paul and Paula were having a great time. Apparently mr. Black enjoyed it too, because after the interview he picked up his guitar and played us a mini concert.
Four songs, recorded in 1999, in a hotel room in the legendary American Hotel in Amsterdam, now for the first time available to everyone. Listen to the rawest, most stripped down session you'll ever hear; Frank Black and his guitar, no audience, no lights, no amplifiers and still mind blowingly cool. Frank Black proves it: great songs and great artists will sound amazing even in the worst conditions. Toazted proudly presents:
Jumping Beans (Unreleased in 1999, appears on "Oddballs" 2000)
Kicked in the taco
Men in black
Headache
