New Mp3 interview with Athlete (July 2005)
Right before Athlete was about to play a support gig for U2, in Amsterdam Holland, we had a cool interview with Joel and Carey in a bar in Amsterdam. The band did some shows with U2 and were really happy about the fact Bono asked them himself to play with them. Joel also explains the lyrics of the song ´Wires´.
Interview with Athlete about Tourist (2005)
Toazted did an interview with the guys Carey and Steve from Athlete in April 2005. The band was about to play The Milkyway in Amsterdam, Holland. We asked them what happened after the two years tour, recording of the new album and it's success.
"Athlete itself formed about 6 years ago. We met as school boys and as friends. We played around and started playing for people."

The Early Days
Toazted did an interview with the whole band about their beginnings in the South East of London.
"We had a Britpop kind of punky sound which we got bored of and then we got a bit of interest from a few record companies and we just thought "Is this really the kind a music that we want to be known for?" and we were like "no" so we just bought a little 12 track recorder and started writing some new songs."

Introducing Athlete
We did an interview with Athlete to explain their unique sound.
"When we got together we were into Britpop, but now were into Stevie Wonder and De La Soul. Our grooves are seventies-ish, our quirky stuff is eighties. We're groove based like hip hop and we all sing on the choruses."
